spontaneous autumn wedding: brett and sandra

Yesterday I found myself in a moment. I had just photographed a short ceremony of a couple getting married for the second time, and was on my way to a full-day wedding of another couple. Both commitments were incredibly emotional for very different reasons. Needless to say I was overwhelmed with love and said to Brett, “Let’s get married again.” She said okay and suggested we do it the next day, which is today. Some may say we are crazy for doing this but it just seemed right to us. So I created a bouquet for Brett and a small floral crown for myself. The funny thing is we had blue hydrangeas at our wedding ten years ago and by chance we had two blue hydrangeas in our garden. And the one on my head, bloomed only days ago. While the crown is not necessarily my style I have been completely inspired by fellow photographer Michelle Gardella, whose subjects often wear floral crowns.

I knew where I wanted to do it. I had been introduced to this meadow this past week by one of my couples who happened to get engaged there in September (more photos of them to come). Brett and I decided to do it in the middle of the day when the sky was blue and the sun was warm. Not necessarily my favorite time of day to shoot but this wasn’t about the photography, it was about the moment. It was about embracing the day and the season, it was about being present and being together. So we planted ourselves in the middle of the meadow, set up a tripod, filmed our vows and then took a few photos. It was fun and emotional and the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Here are a few photos from our spontaneous wedding.

xo,
Sandra

Brett was helping me set up for our jumping shot. The problem was it was a lot harder to coordinate our jump with the self timer. See next photo;)
Oh well.
